New details have emerged following the deaths of a Michigan mother and her six children, with reports pointing to troubling online posts that allegedly described marital problems and an affair involving her husband.

Kristopher Karolkiewicz, 47, is accused of fatally shooting his wife, Amanda “Mandy” Karolkiewicz, 39, and their six children, who ranged in age from 5 to 15, at their home in Grand Haven Township, Michigan. Authorities said the house was then set on fire before Kristopher died by suicide.

According to a report by the Holland Sentinel, a Reddit account believed to belong to Mandy contained posts describing serious difficulties in the couple’s marriage, including allegations of infidelity. The outlet said it independently confirmed the authenticity of the account, although a family spokesperson later said there was no way to definitively verify that Mandy was the person behind the posts.

In one post from 2024, the writer reportedly described meeting her older husband while she was working as an intern. She allegedly wrote that, years later, her husband had been unfaithful with another intern who was around the same age she had been when they first met.

The posts reportedly described the emotional impact of the alleged betrayal and the struggle to rebuild the marriage. The writer said that having six children made the possibility of leaving the relationship especially frightening.

She also reportedly described her husband as having “major red flags” that she had previously overlooked and said the couple had turned to marriage counseling after she discovered behavior she considered deceptive.

According to the report, the Reddit account was active in an online support community focused on rebuilding relationships after infidelity. In one post, the writer reportedly said she had been afraid to leave and had struggled emotionally while trying to keep the family together.

The writer also allegedly described an incident involving an emotional affair and said the couple had experienced significant difficulties before eventually reaching what she described as a healthier place in their relationship.

However, Emily Jones, a spokesperson for the family, cautioned that there was no way to confirm with certainty that Mandy had written the posts.

She said the online discussions appeared to reflect someone seeking support anonymously because they felt unable to openly discuss their fears and struggles in their personal life.

Mandy and Kristopher had reportedly been together for nearly 17 years. They married in August 2009 after meeting the previous year while working at a beverage company.

The couple went on to have six children, including biological and adopted children. Mandy had previously worked in banking and insurance and later became a substitute teacher in the Grand Haven Area Public Schools system. Kristopher had worked as a vice president of sales and marketing at the American Heart Association before his employment ended earlier this month.

Police discovered the family after a fire at their home around noon on Friday, July 24. Their pets were also reported to have died.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office later said autopsies determined that all seven family members died from gunshot wounds. Investigators classified the case as a murder-suicide, stating that Kristopher was responsible for the deaths before taking his own life. Authorities also said multiple fires appeared to have been deliberately set throughout the home following the shootings.

The investigation has left the community grieving and searching for answers about what happened inside the family home before the tragedy.

The reported online posts have added another layer to the case, but questions remain about the family’s private struggles and what may have taken place in the years leading up to the deaths.
