At least 20 were injured after a passenger train derailed in Poland

Emergency workers rushed to the scene near the town of Przysucha, around 60 miles southeast of Warsaw

Deputy Infrastructure Minister Piotr Malepszak said that preliminary information suggested the crash happened after the truck driver was reportedly blinded by the sun.

A press officer for the Mazowian region police confirmed one person has died.

Among the injured were the drivers of the truck and the train, with the former getting trapped in his vehicle until firefighters managed to free him.

Four people were left seriously injured in the horror smash, which happened as the train travelled from the eastern city of Lublin to the northern port of Szczecin.

The collision occurred near the town of Przysucha, around 60 miles southeast of Warsaw at about 11.20am.

A fire service spokesman said: “The locomotive is on its side on the opposite track and some of the wagons are also on their side.”

It comes just five days after another passenger train ploughed into a truck at a level crossing in Poland after the driver allegedly ignored a signal.

Footage shows the terrifying near-fatal crash between a 300-person passenger train and a lorry in the northern port city of Gdansk.

The large truck was caught between barriers on a level crossing after the driver reportedly ignored signals to wait on the road.

The driver attempted to move forwards and backwards to get off the tracks but failed to do so in time.

The fire service said it was alerted to the collision at about 12.30pm on September 3.

In June, three people were injured after two Polish passenger trains crashed and caused a carriage to derail.

Around 200 passengers were travelling on both trains when the horror impact occured.
