Drunk Driver Who Killed Bride on Wedding Night Seen Whining, Demanding to ‘Go Home’ in Newly Released Footage

Newly released police footage shows Jamie Lee Komoroski becoming emotional and repeatedly demanding to go home shortly after she was arrested in connection with the crash that killed a newlywed on her wedding night.

Komoroski, now 27, was arrested after the April 28, 2023, crash in Folly Beach, South Carolina, where a rented Toyota Camry she was driving slammed into a golf cart carrying newlyweds Samantha and Aric Hutchinson and two wedding guests.

Samantha Hutchinson, 34, died in the crash. Her husband, Aric, 36, was seriously injured.

According to authorities, Komoroski had been drinking at several establishments before getting behind the wheel. Investigators determined she was traveling about 65 mph in a 25 mph zone and had a blood-alcohol concentration roughly three times the legal limit.

Footage recently obtained by WCSC shows Komoroski at the Folly Beach police station after the crash, still wearing the clothes she had on when she was taken into custody.

With her hands restrained behind her back, Komoroski repeatedly asked officers whether she could contact her father.

“I just wanna, like, get this over with and go home,” she said while crying.

When an officer told her she could not yet make a phone call, Komoroski appeared frustrated.

“I can’t call my dad?” she asked.

She then questioned why she had been arrested.

“Well, what did I do?” she asked.

Komoroski continued insisting that authorities had not established that she was responsible for what had happened.

“Nobody has any proof of anything that I did,” she said, demanding that officers allow her to contact her family.

At one point, she appeared to notice a camera mounted on the wall and began speaking directly to it.

“Oh, hi camera,” she said, explaining that she was crying because an officer would not allow her to call her father.

She then mocked her own emotional reaction, saying, “Ooh, I’m being just a little baby.”

The footage offers a new look at Komoroski’s behavior in the immediate aftermath of the crash, which prosecutors said followed a night of drinking and ended with devastating consequences for the Hutchinson family.

The newlyweds had been celebrating their wedding when the golf cart carrying them was struck.

A photograph from the evening shows Samantha and Aric walking beneath sparklers following their wedding ceremony.

The collision left Samantha dead and Aric seriously injured, abruptly ending what should have been the beginning of their married life.

Komoroski ultimately pleaded guilty to felony DUI, two counts of DUI resulting in great bodily injury or death, and reckless homicide.

She was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

The newly released footage has renewed attention on the case more than three years after the crash, particularly Komoroski’s behavior during the hours immediately following the collision.
