Fears Kerry murder suspect, 28, ‘won’t be caught’ after fleeing to country ‘easy to disappear from’ amid new details

GARDAI believe the suspect in Jamey Carney’s murder may have fled to Turkey, as he did not require a visa to enter the country.
The international manhunt for the 28-year-old, from Jordan, is continuing after he flew to Istanbul on Tuesday morning.
It was only after he had left the jurisdiction that Jamey’s body was discovered by her 13-year-old daughter in Killarney, Co Kerry.
Sources believe the man’s move to Turkey was “very calculated”, and it is a country where it is “very easy to disappear from”.

Investigators established that after the murder of Jamey, a mother of one, the suspect then took a 3am bus from Killarney to Dublin and later boarded the flight.
Jamey’s body was discovered later on in the day in her bed at her rented home in the exclusive new-build Homeland estate at 1.20pm.

Jamey was found dead by her daughter on Tuesday

She was originally from New York but moved to Killarney in 2021
The 43-year-old murder victim had been beaten to death, and her remains were covered by a duvet.
Cops quickly established the man as a person of interest, but by then, he had already gone.
A source said: “Turkey is a place that is very easy to disappear from, so it was a very calculated move.
“He has contacts there, and he’s from Jordan, so it meant that he did not need a visa. There are fears that he will not be caught now.”
A garda spokesman said: “An Garda Siochana is satisfied that a person of interest in this investigation left the jurisdiction in the early hours of Tuesday, July 7, prior to the body of the deceased female being discovered and reported to An Garda Siochana.
“As part of this investigation, An Garda Siochana is engaging with international law enforcement partners.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
The man had launched an asylum bid after arriving here in 2024 and was living in an IPAS centre.
If he managed to reach England, Scotland or Wales, he can only be extradited back to Ireland to face charges. Detectives will also seek assistance from their UK colleagues.
Jamey, who worked in a healthcare consulting firm, moved to Killarney in 2021 and knew the man for around 18 months.
It is suspected she met him at an anti-war protest.
Jamey’s body was removed from the house, located off the Muckross Road, on Wednesday morning and taken to University Hospital Kerry, where an autopsy took place.
Cops have been in contact with her relatives in the US.
They have been made aware of the murder and are set to travel to Ireland this week.
Local Independent councillor Martin Grady said the area is devastated.
He added: “I knew her well. Everyone is really shocked. She was a loving mother and a very hard worker. I would encourage people to help Gardai in this investigation.”
