Haunting last text missing tourist, 26, sent friend before vanishing 3 weeks ago as heartbroken sisters reveal theory

A MISSING Australian tourist who vanished three weeks ago sent a haunting final message to a friend before disappearing in Las Vegas, it has been revealed.

Sally Grace Contarino, 26, hasn’t been in touch with her family since June 20 – the day before she missed her flight back to Melbourne, Australia.

Contarino’s sisters issued an emotional TV interview and urged anyone with information to come forward

She had been travelling around Nevada and California, but failed to board a bus to Los Angeles where she was due to head to the airport.

Cops have been frantically searching ever since, although scant details have emerged of her whereabouts.

Australian media, however, have revealed Contarino sent a message to an unnamed person just before midnight on June 20 stating: “I fly back tomorrow.”

The report also claimed she planned to visit Lone Mountain, Nevada on that day, although it’s unclear whether she was alone.

Investigators also noted she regularly used a money transfer app and that there was no way to track her iPhone.

Authorities classified Contarino as an endangered missing adult at the start of July, saying investigators believe she may be experiencing severe emotional distress and could require medical attention.

“Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance to locate Sally Grace Contarino, who is missing and endangered,” the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement.

Worried family members flew to the United States to assist the increasingly desperate search over two weeks ago, yet remained desperately searching for answers.

Her sisters, Amy and Lauren Contarino, who have traveled to Las Vegas to assist in the search, have pleaded with anyone with information to come forward.

“We just want our sister home safely,” Amy Contarino said.

Police said Contarino was alone and staying at the Bungalows Hostel on South Las Vegas Boulevard – an area described as “terrible” by one local business owner.

In the days before she disappeared, the 26-year-old had been sightseeing across southern Nevada and neighboring California, according to investigators, with photos documenting stops throughout the region.

Security cameras captured Contarino leaving Timbers Bar & Grill around 10.30 pm on June 19.

She was wearing a black tank top, dark shorts and black-and-white Converse shoes as she walked in the direction of her hostel.

She was pictured at an ATM but then failed to board a bus to LAX airport

Additional surveillance footage shows her arriving back at the hostel in the early morning hours of June 20, police said.

Investigators said Contarino later completed the hostel checkout process electronically, even though authorities found no evidence she physically left the property at that time.

CCTV captured her on June 20 at Smith’s Marketplace, where investigators said she purchased protein bars and water.

She left her luggage at her hostel but took her passport with her before heading out.

Amy Contarino said the family initially believed the silence could be explained by the time difference before realizing something was wrong.

“Later into that same day, the panic really started to set in because we still hadn’t heard from her, and you could no longer make it about the time difference, and that became very scary,” she said.

The Nevada police canine unit tracked Contarino’s scent part of the way toward a nearby mountain before losing it.

Her scent was later detected again on a hiking trail, but investigators have been unable to determine whether she completed the hike or returned to the city.

Law enforcement and the Contarino family believe someone may have given her a ride and are asking anyone who may have seen or driven her to come forward.

“We believe that somebody out there does know something,” Amy Contarino said.

“I don’t know how to express how it would feel to have her back other than my heart would explode with happiness and relief,” Lauren added.

The disappearance has drawn international attention, with volunteers and local residents joining the search while online communities continue to share updates and appeals for information.

A video filmed days before Contarino disappeared has also surfaced online.

In the footage, she is approached outside what appears to be a gas station by a social media creator wearing Meta smart glasses as part of an online trend.

The U.S. Sun contacted the man behind the eerie video – who uses the Instagram handle epicdamianpov – who stressed he handed the video to the cops once he was made aware of the situation.

Authorities do not believe the bizarre footage is connected to her disappearance.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the disappearance and wants anyone with information to contact them.
