Tragic NYC Incident Claims the Life of a Mother of Five After Stray Gunfire at a Bar

An innocent 33-year-old mom of five bled to death in a Brooklyn bar bathroom after she ran for help when a stray bullet hit her during a Sunday morning street brawl, police and sources said.
The deadly gunfire erupted when a fight broke out between a group of about 100 people outside the Ooh La La Lounge near Bergen Street and Howard Avenue around 2:23 a.m. in Crown Heights, according to the NYPD.
An errant bullet struck Sofronie Hartzog, the mother of five young kids, in the back and a 34-year-old man in the gut — both unintended targets, police said.

Hartzog ran into the bar, where she collapsed in a restroom.
Medics rushed her to One Brooklyn Health-One Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, but she could not be saved.
They killed her, that’s what happened,” her grieving aunt, Melinda Hartzog, told The Post.
“She was the best person in the world,” she said, adding that her niece left behind five children.
Neighbor Jennifer Ortiz described the slain victim as a doting mom, always putting her well-behaved kids in nice outfits.
“That speaks volumes because I’m a mother of five children,” she said outside Hartzog’s Gravesend home.

“They always stay together. They’re always smiling, the little girl’s hair is always done,” she added.
“I’m lost for words.”
The other victim in the shooting was left in stable condition at NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County Hospital.
It’s unclear what the dispute was over.
Two men matching a description of suspects in the shooting were taken into custody but were released after cops realized they were not involved, according to sources.
Cops are still hunting for the criminals who caused the carnage.
