🚨 More Than 30 Cats Found Living on an Abandoned Boat — And Police Are Still Trying to Figure Out Why

What looked like an ordinary abandoned boat off Tacoma’s Owen Beach turned into a bizarre rescue operation when police discovered more than 30 cats and kittens roaming inside.

Officers described the scene as something straight out of a Studio Ghibli movie — except the animals were living in unsafe conditions and appeared frightened and malnourished. 🐈🚤

Because the vessel was still privately owned, authorities had to obtain a search warrant before they could board and remove the animals. Marine Services officers and Animal Control workers then returned to carry out the unusual rescue, carefully bringing the cats and kittens to safety.

All of the rescued animals were taken to the Tacoma-Pierce County Humane Society, where they can receive care.

But one major mystery remains: How did more than 30 cats end up living aboard an abandoned boat in the first place?

Police said they were able to identify information about the boat’s owner but have not been able to contact him. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is still ongoing.

For now, the priority is simple — making sure every rescued cat is safe. 🐾
