Patrick Clancy and New Wife Rachel Danis Reveal They’re Expecting a Baby After Unimaginable Loss

More than three years after losing his three young children in one of America’s most heartbreaking family tragedies, Patrick Clancy has shared a hopeful new chapter: he and his wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, are expecting their first child together.

The emotional announcement came during the couple’s first joint television interview on CBS’s 60 Minutes, where they spoke publicly about grief, healing and finding the courage to build a future after devastating loss.

“We’re Starting a Family”

During the interview, correspondent Ross Douthat asked the couple about their future together.

Rachel, a reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist, confirmed with a smile that they are expecting a baby.

Patrick then revealed the thought that has stayed with him throughout the pregnancy.

“I can’t wait to tell them about their brothers and sister,” he said.

He was referring to his three children—Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months—who died in January 2023 after being killed by his former wife, Lindsay Clancy.

A Love Story That Began in Central Park

Patrick met Rachel in January 2024 after joining a running club in New York City while trying to rebuild his life.

Rachel recalled their first coffee date, when she noticed a photograph of three children on Patrick’s phone wallpaper.

“Who are those cuties?” she asked.

Patrick quietly replied, “They died.”

Rachel said she immediately realized she was meeting someone carrying unimaginable grief, but she also saw his extraordinary love for his children.

The couple married in an intimate ceremony in Central Park in April 2026.

Healing After Tragedy

Patrick admitted there was a period when he did not believe he would survive his grief.

He revealed that he struggled with suicidal thoughts after losing his children and eventually left Massachusetts because remaining in Duxbury became emotionally unbearable.

Moving to Manhattan allowed him to grieve anonymously and begin rebuilding his life.

He credits Rachel with helping him carry that grief—not by replacing his children, but by honoring them alongside him.

“My life has changed since I met Rachel in such a positive way,” Patrick said.

Keeping Cora, Dawson and Callan’s Memory Alive

Rachel emphasized that she has never tried to erase Patrick’s past.

Instead, she hopes their future child grows up knowing the siblings who came before them.

“I can’t bring his kids back,” she said. “But I can honor them.”

Patrick says he still talks to Cora, Dawson and Callan regularly, often asking them for guidance during difficult moments. He believes becoming a father again will never replace the children he lost—it will simply expand the family they will always remain part of.

Looking Forward With Hope

The announcement comes just weeks after Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial ended in a mistrial, leaving prosecutors to decide whether they will pursue a retrial.

Rather than focusing on the legal battle, Patrick says he wants the conversation to shift toward healing, perinatal mental health and preserving the legacy of his children.

Now, as he prepares to welcome a new baby with Rachel, Patrick says his greatest hope is simple:
