One night on the banks of the Pascagoula River, a car carrying three people plunged into dark, fast-moving water. Before emergency crews arrived, 16-year-old Corion Evans jumped in without a second thought.

He swam to the sinking vehicle and pulled the passengers out one by one, guiding each safely to shore.
