Ohio Doctor Allegedly Killed in Chilling Plot Involving Her Own Daughter and Teen Boyfriend

A respected Ohio doctor who once studied the behavior of violent teenagers became the victim of a shocking case that investigators say involved a plan allegedly created by her own daughter.

Dr. Tamela Dutcher, 55, was fatally shot inside her Delaware County home on Aug. 14, according to authorities. Prosecutors allege the attack was carried out by her daughter’s boyfriend, Christian Evans, 20, and his roommate, Dajameous Payne, 21.

Investigators say the two men entered the home shortly after midnight and fired a shot while Dutcher was sitting in the living room. Her husband reportedly rushed to help after hearing the gunfire, but the suspects fled after allegedly attempting to shoot him as well.

Emergency responders took Dutcher to a hospital, but she was later pronounced dead.

Authorities allege that Dutcher’s 18-year-old daughter, Bryanna Dutcher, helped organize the attack following a disagreement with her mother earlier that day. According to court documents, investigators claim the conflict escalated into a plan to harm her parents.

The case has drawn additional attention because of Tamela Dutcher’s own professional background. Years earlier, she co-authored a study examining violent behavior among adolescents, including young people involved in homicide cases.

In a heartbreaking twist, investigators say the doctor who spent part of her career studying youth violence became connected to one of the very issues she researched.

Police allege that text messages between the suspects revealed conversations about the plan before the shooting. Investigators also claim Bryanna initially provided misleading information during the investigation before authorities identified Evans and Payne as suspects.

All three — Bryanna Dutcher, Christian Evans and Dajameous Payne — have been charged with aggravated murder. Bryanna also faces an obstruction of justice charge.

The investigation has left the Delaware County community shocked, as friends and neighbors remember Tamela Dutcher as a physician whose life was dedicated to helping others.

A case that began as a tragic home invasion has now become a disturbing investigation into trust, family conflict and an alleged betrayal that devastated a family forever.
