Dublin man, 38, jailed for 14 years for brutal killing of American tourist in Budapest after dumping body in woods

AN Irish thug who strangled an American nurse to death in Budapest has been caged for 14 years.
The Dublin brute, 38, had denied murder, claiming Mackenzie Michalski, 31, died from “consensual BDSM activity”.

Mackenzie Michalski was reported missing on November 5, 2024, while on a holiday with friends

A 38-year-old Irishman has been sentenced to 14 years in jail for the murder
But the Metropolitan Court in Budapest today rejected his claim and ordered him to serve time in a high-security Hungarian prison.
Mackenzie’s brother Nicholas praised the judge for giving him a harsher sentence than prosecutors had asked for.
Speaking outside court, he said: “The important thing is that the murderer is kept off the streets. That he can’t do this to other people.”
The killer — who can’t be identified due to Hungarian legal restrictions — made vile videos of her dead body, his high-profile trial heard.
The Irishman then buried Mackenzie, from Portland, in the countryside, where he hoped wild boars would eat her body.
He’d searched “do pigs really eat dead bodies?” as he tried to cover his tracks.
Mackenzie was reported missing on November 5, 2024, while on a holiday with friends.
The American’s last-known sighting was at a Budapest nightclub with the Irishman, who was arrested at his rented flat on November 7.
The Dubliner confessed to killing Mackenzie, but told officers it was an accident.
Cops said he claimed “they had gotten intimate, and he killed her in the process”.
However, prosecutors and police outlined how he tried to cover up the murder by immediately cleaning his apartment and hiding her body in a wardrobe while he went out to buy a suitcase.
He then placed Mackenzie’s body in the bag and drove it to a forest around 90 minutes from Budapest.
He eventually showed cops where he had buried her body.
