A routine Saturday afternoon turned frightening in the Bronx when a 13-year-old boy was stabbed outside a neighborhood supermarket in broad daylight, leaving him hospitalized and police searching for the person responsible.

The attack happened around 5:23 p.m. Saturday outside C-Town on Westchester Avenue in the Soundview neighborhood, according to police sources.

The teenager was stabbed in the stomach during the assault. Emergency medical workers rushed him to Jacobi Hospital on Pelham Parkway, where he was treated for his injuries and listed in stable condition.

The scene was quickly transformed into an active crime scene.

Police officers surrounded the area outside the supermarket and placed yellow crime-scene tape around the sidewalk. Blood could be seen on the concrete as investigators worked to piece together what happened.

As of the latest reports, no arrest had been made in connection with the attack.

Detectives were continuing to search for the suspect and investigate what led to the stabbing.

Another Daytime Stabbing Shakes the Bronx
The attack comes just days after another violent stabbing in the Bronx claimed the life of a New York City school employee.

Rashaun Shettlewood, a 32-year-old Department of Education paraprofessional, was fatally stabbed in the chest during a daytime confrontation near Davidson and West Tremont avenues in Morris Heights.

A 33-year-old friend who was with him was also stabbed and hospitalized in stable condition.

Police said the confrontation appeared to have stemmed from a dispute.

The suspected attacker, 37-year-old Jeffrey Jorge of Brooklyn, was arrested the following morning after officers reportedly spotted him carrying a knife in the Prospect-Lefferts Gardens area.

He was charged with murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, assault and criminal possession of a weapon, according to police.

A Search for Answers
For the 13-year-old injured Saturday, the immediate focus remains recovery.

For investigators, the unanswered questions are now centered on the identity of the person who attacked him and what triggered the confrontation outside the busy supermarket.

The fact that the stabbing happened in broad daylight, in a public neighborhood setting, has added to the alarm surrounding the incident.

Police continue to investigate, while the teenager remains hospitalized in stable condition.

The investigation remains active, and authorities have not announced an arrest in the case involving the 13-year-old boy.
