Multiple shipping containers fell off a cargo ship into the water at the Port of Los Angeles Monday morning.

The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. at Berth 302, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

Los Angeles Port Police said crews are responding to reports of three containers that fell into the water. One of the containers was recovered and returned to the dock. Two others sank and crews were sent to try and salvage them.

“Operations briefly paused at the terminal at the beginning of the response but have since resumed,” a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Port Police said.

Video of the scene shows that at least one container was floating in the water close to the enormous ship.

A more zoomed out view shows the ship and floating container close to the entrance of the port.

It’s unclear if any other containers sank into the ocean.

There were no injuries or hazmat concerns, and the reason for the incident remains unknown.

Police are investigating the incident.

Port of Los Angeles is known to be one of the busiest container seaports in the Western hemisphere.

The port is located in San Pedro Bay, which is about 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.

It serves as a primary gateway for international trade between the United States and Asia.
