Tennessee Teen Faces Charges After Running Onto Football Field to Defend Younger Brother

WINCHESTER, Tennessee — A Tennessee teenager is facing criminal charges after she ran onto a middle school football field and tackled an opposing player during a game, claiming she was trying to protect her younger brother from repeated rough treatment on the field.

The incident, which was captured on video and quickly spread across social media, involved 16-year-old Addison Hunnicutt, who entered the field during a game between South Middle School and Cornersville Middle School. Authorities later charged her with assault and disorderly conduct.

Teen Says She Was Trying to Protect Her Brother

According to Hunnicutt, she became increasingly upset while watching her younger brother play.

She claimed an opposing player repeatedly grabbed her brother’s face mask, shoved him around and later struck him in the ribs. Hunnicutt said she felt no one on the field was stopping the situation and believed she had to intervene herself.
