A 24-year-old nursing technician in Brazil was rescued in a terrifying kidnapping case after police found her allegedly restrained inside a home where she had been held captive for several days.

Emiliane Tamara Nunes Carvalho disappeared on Aug. 17 after meeting her former partner, Ailton Rodrigues de Souza, to discuss matters involving their two children. Authorities allege that instead of having a conversation, Souza attacked her and took her to a hidden location in Águas Lindas de Goiás.

Police said Carvalho was found five days later inside a room, restrained with ropes, handcuffs and chains. Officers who entered the residence after hearing screams discovered her in a frightened state and immediately worked to free her.

According to investigators, Carvalho showed signs of severe distress and needed medical attention after the rescue. She was taken to a hospital and later released, but said she continues to experience pain and dizziness following the ordeal.

Authorities allege that Souza held her against her will and committed serious crimes during the time she was missing. He was arrested and faces charges including kidnapping, rape and unlawful imprisonment.

After surviving the traumatic experience, Carvalho decided to speak publicly about what happened in hopes of warning others about the dangers of abusive relationships.

She revealed that she ended her relationship with Souza in December 2025 after being together for five years, saying she ignored warning signs when she was younger and struggled to recognize the seriousness of the situation.

The case has sparked renewed conversations about domestic violence and the importance of seeking help when a relationship becomes unsafe.
